Yesteryear…
on June 26, 2024

It feels like just yesteryear when I was shedding tears because Dale came home with a new haircut and he wasn’t even one yet. I wept for days 😂

Fast forward to a few months ago, Dale spotted a few gray hairs in his beard and mustache and decided they had to go. Not just the gray hairs, but all of it because “these grays are making me look old.”

I got a set of clippers that were safe for him to use without risking injury. The first couple of times, I supervised and offered some guidance because, despite it being his idea, he was still anxious about accidentally cutting himself. His hair grows at such a rapid pace that he needs to shave at least every three days to maintain his desired look.

As he prepared to head out to one of his line dance socials, I strolled past the bathroom and captured the photo above. I wore my brave face that day. Though a tear threatened to fall, I didn’t dwell on it for days. I was immensely proud that he conquered his fear of accidentally cutting himself to achieve the look he desired.

  • OMG! I can still remember when Dale’s hair stood straight up on his head, LOL! I’m so proud of the young man that Dale has become.

  • Wow !! Where has the time gone !! I am humbled and proud to witness all of the obstacles that Dale has overcome!! He is a remarkable man !!

  • I am not quite sure how to feel about this shaving stuff. BUT, Dale has grown to be a wonderful man so I guess that means I have to grew up myself.

  • Ineed, indeed this just shows of the positive upbringing and the years of support from his family first! Continue to be brave, and know that you, his mother has done and is doing a wonderful job …oh the love!

  • These are the milestones that make us proud but also make us sad. Our children grow up. The greatest gift we can give them is “wings” to fly to heights unknown! So proud of you mama!
