I got it done…
on April 26, 2024

Dale, who is almost three weeks into his new position, decided to give us a detailed account of his day. So of course his grandmother and I were all ears, with grandma getting more information since she picks him up. But as a mom, I’m fine with that – it’s all part of the job.  This story went on for about 45 minutes but I’ll try to keep it short.

The story begins with Dale training with a co-worker that for privacy sake I will refer to as “J”, who apparently moves at lightning speed. Imagine that speed combined with pushing four heavy boxes on a delivery cart, or as Dale said several times throughout the story, “three on the bottom, one on the top”.

From Dale’s description, these boxes were extremely heavy. Of course, Mom and I had to interrupt and ask if he needed a back brace to avoid straining himself. During this conversation, we were laughing so hard, tears were streaming down our faces.

Dale sat down and demonstrated from a seated position. As we asked questions, we couldn’t figure out why he was pushing the cart through the building to keep up with “J” aka Speedy when the heavy boxes were destined for the mail room. It turns out, he picked up those heavy boxes along the way.

Dale kept coming back to how he was grunting and pushing the cart, and then he mimicked himself saying “LORD JEEESSSUUUSSS!” with every letter drawn out. We couldn’t stop laughing. Finally, he said, “I don’t think this is what I signed up for.”  A few more laughs were shared and he ended by saying “Yeah, but I got it done!”
