I was writing out bills, yes in 2020, I do still write a couple of good old fashion checks. And yes, I still balance a checkbook, really telling my age, but I do. But back to the story. I yell downstairs to ask Dale to bring me an envelope and one of his return address labels. I could hear him get up and proceed to get the items but he hollered upstairs “Ok, but um, what is my return address label going on?”
In the moment I had two thoughts, the first being that I taught him well, early on we taught Dale to ask questions for understanding. We try to help him understand the importance of his personal information and the importance of protecting it. Although he doesn’t have a true sense of the value of money, banking, credit or anything along those lines, we still discuss it with him because we never know how much he grasps and what he doesn’t. I’m extremely proud of him when I hear that he got some understanding out of it. Then the second thought came over me, did he just ask me what I want with his label, the nerve of him, right…LOL (great job Dale)!
So he brought it upstairs and I explained to him that I was preparing his tithes to mail to church for the month of July and then I asked if he’d sign his check for me. He said oh, thanks Ma, thank you for staying on top of that. I could only laugh, the number of titles I hold for that young man, and I wouldn’t change it for the world ❤️.

Great job mom. Dale is blessed to have you. So very proud of both of you!
Thank you!! The Village, which you certainly have played a role in, is what has given us the support, encouragement, and strength that we need.
