We were at an informal family gathering and as usual Dale was at the table with the adults. If you’re familiar with William’s Syndrome then you already know they prefer adult interaction. But if you know Dale, no matter how many times you encourage him to interact with his cousins closer to his age group, that he ends up at the adult table.
Anyhoo, somehow we, the adults, it was five of us, started talking about divorce. Dale turns to one cousin shocked to learn that she was divorce. He has difficulty with relationships, so following who is married to whom or who is someone’s brother or cousin’s twice removed is really too much for him. He understands two things, we are family or we are not.
So we go around the table and all five of us are either divorce or in the process. So the last person to speak was actually a friend of the family and Dale says, and he was so sincere “oh, I didn’t know you use to be married too.” She says “yes, yes I was, I’ve been around the rosie too.”
Dale looked at each one of us one by one with a look of disbelief on his face and he says “WELL, I GUESS THEY ALL FELL DOWN!!” When I tell you we laughed for a good five minutes. Ring Around the Rosie will never be the same for any of us.

He is definitely conversational on almost every topic, apparently, even divorce. He’s a gift to those around him.
